About This Pilgrimage
This 10-day Buddhist pilgrimage takes you to Bhutan’s most sacred sites, following in the footsteps of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the great master who brought Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century. This journey is designed for practitioners and seekers who wish to experience the living tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism in its purest form.

Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Sacred Welcome
Arrive at Paro Airport. Your Buddhist guide greets you with a traditional white kata scarf. Transfer to hotel. Evening introduction to Bhutanese Buddhism and orientation about your pilgrimage journey.
Day 2: Kyichu Lhakhang - The Ancient Temple
Visit one of Bhutan's two oldest temples (7th century). House to the sacred Jowo Jampa statue believed to be naturally-arising. Participate in kora (circumambulation) with local devotees.
Day 3: Taktsang Palphug - Tiger's Nest
The holiest day of your pilgrimage. Hike to Tiger's Nest where Guru Rinpoche meditated for 3 years. Meditate in his sacred cave. Your guide will conduct a blessing ceremony.
Day 4: Transfer to Thimphu - Capital of Dharma
Drive to Thimphu. Visit Memorial Chorten - circumambulate with hundreds of devotees spinning prayer wheels. Evening audience with a Buddhist master (subject to availability).
Day 5: Tango Cheri Monastery - Drukpa Kagyu Birthplace
Hike to Tango Monastery where Phajo Drugom Zhigpo established the Drukpa Kagyu lineage. This is where many great masters meditated. Receive teachings from resident monks.
Day 6: Dochula Pass & Punakha Journey
Scenic drive over Dochula Pass (3,150m) with 108 chortens. Stop for meditation with Himalayan views. Continue to Punakha, visit Chimi Lhakhang (Divine Madman's temple).
Day 7: Punakha Dzong - Sacred Relics
Visit Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful dzong housing sacred relics of the Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Attend evening puja with monks. Fire pujas can be arranged (additional cost).
Day 8: Transfer to Bumthang - Cultural Heart
Scenic drive through Pele La Pass (3,400m) to Bumthang. This is the cultural heart of Bhutan with the highest concentration of sacred sites. Evening rest.
Day 9: Kurje Lhakhang - Guru Rinpoche's Body Print
Visit Kurje Lhakhang where Guru Rinpoche's body imprint is preserved on a rock. Also visit Jambay Lhakhang (one of 108 geomantic temples). Final group meditation and dedication of merit.
Day 10: Departure with Blessings
Final breakfast. Transfer to Paro Airport. Your guide offers a farewell kata scarf and blessed protection cord. Depart with transformed heart and mind.
