Arrival in Paro (2,250m)
Arrive at Paro International Airport. Traditional welcome with butter tea and khata scarf. Check into hotel. Evening orientation and welcome dinner featuring Bhutanese cuisine at a local farmhouse.
Tiger's Nest & Paro Valley
Morning hike to Taktsang Palphug (Tiger's Nest) at 3,120m - Bhutan's most iconic monastery where Guru Rinpoche meditated on a tigress. Afternoon visit to Rinpung Dzong, National Museum, and Kyichu Lhakhang temple.
Paro to Thimphu via Haa Valley
Scenic drive to Haa Valley through Chele La Pass (3,988m) - Bhutan's highest motorable pass. Explore remote Haa Valley with traditional lifestyle. Visit Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo. Continue to Thimphu (2,350m).
Thimphu - Capital Exploration
Full day in Bhutan's capital. Visit Buddha Dordenma (169ft bronze statue), Tashichho Dzong (seat of government), National Memorial Chorten, Motithang Takin Preserve. Browse Weekend Market, visit School of Traditional Arts.
Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass
Drive over spectacular Dochula Pass (3,100m) with 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Descend to subtropical Punakha Valley (1,250m). Visit magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of two rivers.
Punakha to Phobjikha Valley
Drive to glacial Phobjikha Valley (2,900m). Visit Gangtey Goemba monastery. Phobjikha is winter home to rare black-necked cranes (October-March). Evening nature walk with sunset views over wetlands.
Phobjikha to Trongsa to Bumthang
Drive across Pele La Pass (3,390m) to Trongsa. Visit massive Trongsa Dzong - ancestral home of Bhutan's royal family. Continue to Bumthang (2,800m) - Bhutan's cultural heartland. Visit Yathra weaving center.
Bumthang Sacred Sites
Visit Kurje Lhakhang where Guru Rinpoche meditated (body imprint on rock). See Jambay Lhakhang (7th-century) and future Buddha statue. Visit Kencho Sum Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang with ancient paintings. Evening walk to Jakar Dzong.
Bumthang Valley Exploration
Visit Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake) where Pema Lingpa discovered hidden treasures. Explore Tang Valley - most remote valley with traditional villages and Ugyen Choling Palace. Traditional farmhouse dinner with local ara (spirit) tasting.
Flight Bumthang to Paro & Departure
Morning transfer to Yongphulla Airport. Scenic 35-minute flight to Paro with spectacular aerial views of Himalayan peaks. Last-minute shopping in Paro. Transfer to Paro International Airport for departure flight.
